For your information

The family must know that they are free to choose the funeral company of their preference for the funeral service and that neither the Insurer, Hospital, Residence or Geriatric Home can impose any funeral home, regardless of the municipality. If you have a Burial Insurance Policy, you can notify the funeral home directly, and we will contact any Insurer. At Grup Muntaner Ribot we carry out all the services that the beneficiaries have contracted in their policy and, of course, we will manage everything if you do not have one.

What to do with the ashes?

The moment to say goodbye to a loved one is a complicated and painful one. But once we have decided on cremation, and being responsible for the remains, we have to make decisions. Family members have many options to choose from after cremation.

These are the most common:

Niche - columbarium in the cemetery. Burial of the urn in a niche or columbarium. Columbarium are specific niches for burying urns. It is one of the most traditional ways being used currently.

Burying the urn or scattering the ashes on the ground. There are people who wish their ashes to be scattered in specific places or that have a sentimental value or meaning for the deceased. If the urn is buried, it must be a biodegradable urn. Cemeteries have specific areas for this.

Depositing the urn (biodegradable) or spreading the ashes in the sea or a river. This is a very common practice in the area due to the maritime life of the municipalities of Artà, Capdepera and Son Servera, and the love its inhabitants have for the sea.

Placing an urn underground and planting a tree with the urn. This practice is becoming more common and is an environmentally friendly one (a natural process). A tree or plant seed of the deceased's liking can be chosen, placed in a special place, etc. It is also a symbolic place of reference for relatives since it will be a place that we can visit later.

Keeping the ashes in an urn at home or in another desired place. If you want to distribute them among family members, you can choose divisible urns or mini-urns.

Saving a part of the ashes inside a jewel or decorative mineral.

Apart from these, there are practices to suit more unusual requests such as making a sculpture by mixing the ashes with clay or metals, creating a diamond, mixing them with pigments and painting a picture, spreading the ashes from a hot air balloon, and many other options.
