History of
Grupo Muntaner Ribot
Year
1955
In 1955, Mr Joan Muntaner Cañellas founded the company Pompes Fúnebres Muntaner in the towns of Capdepera and Cala Rajada, dedicated to funeral services and exclusive death insurance. It became the oldest company in the funeral sector in the Llevant region and one of the oldest on the island of Mallorca.
Over time, the company was naturally passed down from father to son, with Antoni Joan Muntaner Pomar becoming the company’s principal director.

1989
In 1989, the company acquired the funeral home in Artà, run by Mr. Antoni Ginard Cantó, and began providing services to the two neighboring municipalities. As a result, the workforce increased.

1994
In October 1994, Pompes Fúnebres Muntaner became Grup Muntaner Ribot, S.L., thus giving continuity to the family business. A year later, with the public deed of social agreements, it was agreed to include the management of public and/or private cemeteries and the provision of administrative services, maintenance, burials, exhumations and cremations.

1999
In 1999, through a public tender and by agreement in plenary session of the Artà City Council, Grup Muntaner Ribot, S.L. was awarded the contract for the funeral services, maintenance and administrative management of the municipal cemeteries (Artà and Colònia de Sant Pere). Six years later, the council awarded us the concession again, for the second time, which is still in force today.

2011
We have been providing funeral services in the municipality of Son Servera for ten years now, collaborating selflessly with the City Council in the burial and exhumation tasks of the municipal cemetery, until in March 2011, we were awarded the concession through a public tender and approved in full, and therefore, the administrative management and maintenance of the Municipal Cemetery of Son Servera.

2023
After a lot of effort, we opened our own crematorium in the Artà Business Park. Modern and comfortable facilities that allow us to offer a comprehensive and local service, without depending on any external company.
Over the years, the company has evolved and grown, establishing a presence in all three municipalities of the Llevant region of Mallorca. Our experience has given us deep insight into the funeral customs of each locality, as well as those of various cultures, due to the significant percentage of foreign residents in the area. Today, the company’s family-run nature is assured with the integration of the third generation.
